Composite bonding is a cosmetic dental technique that involves the application of a tooth-coloured composite resin to repair and improve the appearance of teeth.
The procedure involves:
- Selecting a shade of resin that matches your teeth.
- Gently prepare the tooth surface so the bonding material will adhere.
- Applying and shaping the composite resin onto the tooth.
- Hardening the resin with a special curing light.
- Finally shaping and polishing the bonded tooth to blend seamlessly with the natural teeth.
Composite bonding is usually completed in one visit to the dentist, typically taking 30 to 60 minutes to complete. However, the duration may vary depending on the complexity and number of teeth involved.
Composite bonding is generally not painful. The procedure is minimally invasive and usually requires no anaesthesia.
With proper care, composite bonding can last between 5 to 7 years, and sometimes longer.
